Talking

Talking?

What does it mean?

We share the same intimate moments

As lovers have before,

Yet the only thing missing 

is a few words.

Why are these words so important? 

There are many words that go with talking

such as love, 

such as care, 

such as beautiful,  

and sometimes even fuck.

But those few words, whether its boyfriend, 

girlfriend, 

dating, 

or mine.

They're not present in our dictionary

Maybe it isn't important, 

maybe I overanalyze 

And I should enjoy us, 

without doing the math.

Adding these words to our equation,

could be useless.

But the problem is

those words add up to one fear

and that's commitment.

Divorce rates rise  

being able 

to be with one person 

has faded.

Now we have friends with benefits 

to keep it physical,

 What is with this generational fear,

We use a series of codes

to explain what we are.

"Yeah we fuck,  and I like her, 

but I don't know if it's like that."

What a mouthful 

next to 

"She's mine." or 

"We're dating."

In an era of 

idk, 

idc , 

idfk, wouldn't it be nice 

to sit back and not worry

of who we each are, 

just to be as one?

To me that's a comforting thought

Should this poem have a clever end?

That would mean certainty.

but there is no certainty here.
Because talking is a lack of certainty
